Have you got a spring in your step?

Spring BlossomI was on my way to a meeting, stepping out and enjoying the walk in the fresh spring air. It was a wonderful clear day, and after what has seemed like a dull winter, it was lovely to have the sun shining so brightly. I am not normally too fretful if it is not always dry and sunny – I do spend a lot of time outdoors, so it is a fact that I will experience a variety of changeable weather here in England. Providing I am suitably dressed, I can just get on with it.

The change from the dull days to this wonderful bright one was very marked. It seems as if mother nature had been waiting for a sunny day too, and was going to make an early Spring show, all of its own.

I was passing a park when I noticed this splendid blossom, the whole tree was providing a wonderful showcase. I just stopped and enjoy looking at this well established and large tree, that had clearly been there for many a long year. It had seemingly chosen this day to burst forth and visibly welcome the change in the weather. It certainly put a smile on my face and lifted my spirits still further. Too often I know I am in a rush to get from A to B, and do not always notice what is before my very eyes.

As I was early for my meeting, it was a pleasure just to take a few minutes and look at what nature was doing to make our daily lives so much more colourful. It also made me think of a few ideas as I continued on my way, with a renewed spring in my step:

  • Many businesses will start to put away things from the last season and bring out the new seasons offerings.
  • Now we are well into the new year, with longer days, many businesses will freshen up their look to attract new customers, and appear fresh to existing customers too.
  • Some seasonal sales will start to shift things from the old season and make room for new.

And some specific thoughts about our own world:

  • Nature has been quietly busy preparing for spring – so what have you been working on over the winter season that you have yet to get into ‘blossom’?
  • Have you got any bold statements to make, now that the year is well underway?
  • If you have not been creating something new, what have you done to improve what you do for your clients?

If you have not been developing, or freshening up anything, is now a good time to take a tip from nature and see what you could bring out in bloom?

The year is just starting, you have time to make sure that this seasonal change brings some changes for you too.

My best wishes,

Peter
